I NEED a time machine…

Having a time machine at my disposal would allow me to travel out of this realm and into different times, and essentially different worlds.

But that’s NOT why I want one. All of that would be good, don’t get me wrong, but I’m quite fond of the here and now. My problem boils down to the fact that there simply aren’t enough hours in a day to comfortably accomplish what I want and/or need to get done. So here’s what I propose… I will dedicate five precious minutes each and every day to my new build-a-working-time-machine project, and WHEN it becomes a reality, I’ll use it daily to return to 9pm once midnight hits in my part of the world. Three extra hours, otherwise unaccounted for, should just about do it. No stress, no other obligations, no distractions, just pure undisturbed writing time.

Doesn’t that sound like bliss?

Stay tuned, and I’ll let you know when I’m successful. Oh, and this is (of course) the kind of thing I have in mind :-)

I hope your days are lengthy enough to allow you to whittle your to-do list down to a manageable level.

Happy writing,

Robyn

Sounds like bliss, for sure! Can I borrow it from you (very) occasionally? Or at least get a photocopy of the blueprints? ;-)

I agree wholeheartedly. There’s just no time left in the day. Once I’ve come home from work, gone for a walk, cooked and eaten dinner…oh look, it’s eight-thirty and I’m knackered. As for today, a supposed ‘writing day’, I’ve spent most of it doing critiques for this weekend’s meeting, will have to catch up on my writing course, and I’ll be lucky if I get a blog post done, let alone a decent session of writing. More time?

    YES PLEASE!

Madeline (who, at this rate, really shouldn’t be distracting herself with blogs) x

      Hi Madeline,

There’ll be no readable plans… I’m not that organised! But of course you’ll be able to borrow the actual machine. The fifteen minutes in your car to get to my place will be easily recouped ;-)

I’ll be thinking of you this weekend at the meeting, and would be tempted to gatecrash except I have an out of town wedding to go to. I’m looking forward to some time offline, TBH.

I hope time is kind to you today,

      Robyn

  2. I’ll put an order in for one too, Robyn. Perhaps I could go back in time to where I had a first lot of revisions and do them properly this time!

Hi Jackie, that kind of thing is so tempting, but the possibility of creating a time paradox is too scary for words. If we’d sold those early manuscripts, nailed those first revisions, everything between then and now would be different. We wouldn’t have learned all the hard lessons (not in the same way) and maybe that’s NOT a good thing? It could be that we need today’s knowledge to move forward. *that’s why three hours of travel is my limit :-)
