Thanksgiving isn’t a tradition we usually obseve Down Under, but I’ve decided to make an exception this year. It won’t be fancy, and to be honest we’re just having a rich beef casserole for dinner, but I am EXTREMELY thankful right now.
Yesterday I was very lucky to keep control of my car as I swerved onto the gravel (and grass!) at the side of the road to avoid an oncoming car that was travelling towards me in my lane. No one was hurt and – after I’d calmed down – I felt incredibly lucky to be safe.
That would normally be more than enough excitement for me, but this morning my husband returned home from work before I’d even had my morning coffee. One look at the gash on his head had me issuing drill sergeant orders to our two boys and reaching for my car keys. I still haven’t combed my hair (hey, I’m at home) although I’m pleased to say I remembered to whip the towel off my wet hair before driving to the hospital. Three stitches, an impromptu haircut and a mega bandage later, my hubby is taking a nap and I’ve got a moment to say… phew!!!
These are small problems in the grand scheme of things, I know, but I feel as if we both sidestepped danger and THAT is something to be very thankful for.
While I’m adding to the list, I’m thankful for two beautiful, healthy and smart boys, and for my Dad’s ability to prevail against his rare form of cancer the way no one else in the world ever has! I’m also thankful for family and friends, including my lovely online sisters: Maisey, Jackie, Jane, Rach, Jilly, Aideen and Barbara. And I’m also thankful to Entangled for publishing my book(s) and, of course, to my readers.
What are YOU thankful for?
